The Short-tailed Antthrush is a passerine bird of the Formicariidae family. Also known as Tovaca (Rio de Janeiro). It measures around 20 cm in length and weighs 69 g. This species belongs to a genus that is morphologically challenging to characterize, cryptic in comparison to the Short-tailed Antthrush (Chamaeza meruloides). It is distinguished from its congener by the white band at the end of the tail and its whitish legs.
