Magnificent Frigatebird

The Magnificent Frigatebird (Fregata magnificens) is a suliform bird of the Fregatidae family. Also known as the Man O’ War, Common Frigatebird, Frigate, Pirate of the Sea, Sea Robber, Guarapirá, Carapirá, and Guirapirá. According to Sick (1997), frigatebirds have the largest wing area per unit of weight, with a length of 85-100 cm and over two meters of wingspan, weighing just 1.4-1.5 kg. The male is black and distinguished by a red gular sac. The female is larger, with a black head and white chest. Juveniles have white heads.
